Becoming part of the CoroRio Family

Singers entering grades 1-4

All singers in 1st-4th grade will be welcomed into CoroNino without an audition. Singers can sit in on a Tuesday rehearsal that will allow them to get to know the directors and see what a typical class will look like. During the rehearsal, singers should demonstrate age appropriate focus and attention, the ability to respond to instruction, and the ability to match pitch. Each of these skills will be observed in the group setting- no individual assessment is required.

**Students in 4th grade will have the option of auditioning for CoroCorriente, or remaining in CoroNino without an audition.

If you are interested in sitting in on a rehearsal or becoming a member of CoroNino, please fill out the interest form HERE.

Singers entering grades 5-12

Students entering grades 5-12 (and 4th graders who wish to audition) will be considered for upper level choirs that require an individual audition. We like to think of an audition is as a "Meet and Greet" session. This is simply a chance for you to meet the directors and ask any questions you may have, as well as a time for us to meet you and get an idea of what choir will best suit your needs as a growing and developing musician. Each singer should be prepared to sing either "Happy Birthday" or the first verse of “My Country Tis of Thee” in a key that best suits their voice.

The audition will also include some short vocal exercises to get an idea of the student's vocal quality, timbre, and range, tonal memory aptitude, part singing ability, and sight singing ability. NOTE: Singers are not required to know all of the audition material in order to be placed in a choir. The exercises simply help us place the singer in the choir that will be best suited for their individual musical development.

If you are interested in sitting in on a rehearsal or becoming a member of one of our upper level choirs, please fill out the interest form HERE.
