Are you interested in being a member of CoroRio?  We would love to have you audition!

The best way to think of an audition is as a Meet and Greet session. This is simply a chance for you to meet the directors and ask any questions you may have, and a time for us to meet you and get an idea of what choir will best suit your needs as a growing and developing musician.

Singers entering grades 1-4

Singers will attend a 25 min. mini-rehearsal that will allow them to get to know the directors and see what a typical rehearsal will look like. During the rehearsal, singers will need to demonstrate age appropriate focus and attention, the ability to respond to instruction, and the ability to match pitch. Each of these skills will be observed in the group setting- no individual assessment is required.

Singers entering grades 5-12

Each singer should be prepared to sing the first verse of “My Country Tis of Thee” in a key that best suits their voice. The audition will also include some short vocal exercises to get an idea of the student's vocal quality, timbre, and range, tonal memory aptitude, part singing ability, and sight singing ability. A written musicianship analysis will be given to help the instructors pace music instruction for each choir. Singers are not required to know all of the audition material in order to be placed in a choir. The exercises simply help us place the singer in the choir that will be best suited for their individual musical development.
