CoroRio is proud to announce that our founder and Artistic Director, Mr. Norris, has been invited to conduct a National Honor Choir in the esteemed Carnegie Hall in New York City with DCINY. Choirs from across the country are selected by invitation only to participate in this prestigious event, rehearsing together for approximately 4 hours a day, and culminating in a final performance in one of the world's most revered concert halls. The ladies will perform with the 7-12th grade Treble National Honor Choir under the direction of Mr. Norris, and the gents will perform with the SATB National Honor Choir under the direction of Mr. Eric Barnum. Family and friends are welcome to travel with the group.
An informational meeting was held in May 2017 and initial deposits were due June 15th, 2017. If you have not signed up for the trip, but are interested in traveling with the group, please email Mrs. Norris at cororio@gmail.com.
An updated information sheet about the trip can be found here: Updated CoroRio Carnegie Information Sheet. The updated information sheet includes a detailed pricing chart, suggested (very tentative) itinerary, trip inclusions, and payment information. (You will want to review it carefully before filling out the information form below.)
Additional updated information we can provide thus far:
The next payment of $500 has been moved to Sept. 29th. The payment options will remain the same as the deposits- see the information sheet for details. If you are mailing a check, please be sure to mail in plenty of time for it to be received by the deadline.
We want to prepare you for the fact that the airfare is coming in a good bit higher than the travel agent originally quoted. Unfortunately, the agent that we were working with left the company over the summer and our air was not secured in July like we had planned. That, combined with a much larger group than we originally anticipated, has caused the rates to be higher than we hoped. (With airfare, a larger group doesn’t mean a better rate, it actually increases the demand on the flights and therefore drives the price higher.) We have been diligently working with the travel agent to come up with ways to problem solve, but right now it looks like the price of the trip will increase by around $100 if you are doing the full package. The good news is that most of the seats that we have reserved are with Southwest and include free baggage, so really that makes the cost difference just $50 if you take into account the $50 that we would have had to pay for baggage fees at the airport. The land only package will be unaffected and can be found on the updated information sheet above. We are still working to negotiate with the airlines, but we want to be as upfront and transparent as possible with you throughout this whole process and avoid any unwelcome surprises. Hopefully we will be able to come back with good news in the coming months, but in the meantime, you should refer to the pricing on the updated information sheet and plan on those amounts. The cost will not go up any more at this point, it will only decrease if we are able to lower the airfare at all. Everyone still has the option of arranging their own airfare if you can do that at a better price for your family. You will need to decide and indicate your choice on the information form below by Friday, September 15th. (The flight times that we have reserved are included in the itinerary on the updated information sheet.)
As a reminder, you are welcome to make deviations to the trip, but those arrangements will have to be your responsibility. For example, if you want to extend your trip on either end, you would need to select the land only portion of the trip and then make your own travel arrangements, etc. (The travel agent can help with extended hotel accommodations through Sept. 29th only- be sure to indicate it on your information form below. Please do not contact the travel agent directly with those requests- everything needs to be arranged through Mrs. Norris.) If you want to purchase your airfare using credit card points or frequent flyer miles, you will also need to arrange your own airfare and purchase the land only trip package.
Hotel Rooming: Students who are traveling with a parent are encouraged to share a room with their parent. We will have room sign-ups for students traveling without a parent at a later date. If you are a parent traveling with your child (or family) and have already made arrangements for who you will share a room with, please be sure to indicate that on the information form below.
Hotel security for our group was not included in the travel agent price quote, but is something that we plan to provide.
Due to the large size of this traveling group, we are requesting that each parent traveling take full responsibility for your own child throughout the trip. Students traveling without a parent will be assigned to an adult chaperone for the duration of the trip.
Below you will find a link to an information form for you to complete that indicates your rooming selection (single, double, triple, quad) whether you want to be a VIP Patron, whether you want a complete package or just the land package, and if you would like the travel agent to extend your hotel stay for you. Please be sure that you complete this form as soon as possible, but no later than Friday, September 15th.
