On Tuesday, February 11th, 2020, CoroRio will be hosting the annual Desoto County Choral Concert at Brown Missionary Baptist Church (7200 Swinnea Road, Southaven). Each middle school and high school in Desoto County is invited to bring a choir to perform and we each share one piece. It is a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn from each other and grow through observation of other groups.
Here is the schedule:
4:30 pm Corriente arrives at Brown for rehearsal. (Come in concert attire or bring your concert clothes to change into.) We will eat between rehearsal and the concert. Please send $5 cash to rehearsal next week and give it to Mrs. Julie when you check in. We need a parent to volunteer to collect money for pizza, chips, drink and take care of ordering/getting it set up for us. If you would prefer to send something else for your child to eat, that is also fine!
5:30 pm Arroyo, Rio, and Fuente arrive for sound check/rehearsal in concert attire. We need to have have sanctuary cleared by 6:00 pm, so please do everything you can to be prompt- we will only have 30 minutes to take care of everything.
6:00 pm Doors to the concert open. It is open to the public and free admission
6:30 pm Concert will last around 1 hour 15 min. We would love for Corriente students to stay for the entire concert, but we also understand it is a school night and you might need to sneak out early. They are the second song on the concert and then will be finished if you would like to make arrangements to leave after that. Arroyo, Rio and Fuente students are expected to stay for the entire concert.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE YOUR CORRIENTE STUDENT TO LEAVE AFTER THE CONCERT, PLEASE SIT NEAR THE LEFT SIDE OF THE AUDITORIUM AND FOLLOW THEM OUT OF THE LEFT EXIT AFTER THEIR PERFORMANCE. STUDENTS STAYING FOR THE PERFORMANCE WILL BE SEATED TOGETHER IN THE FRONT OF THE SANCTUARY FOR THE REST OF THE PERFORMANCE. PLEASE BE SURE YOU COMMUNICATE YOUR PLANS WITH YOUR CHILD BEFORE REHEARSAL. I WILL HAVE THEM PRACTICE EXITING THE STAGE BASED ON WHETHER THEY ARE STAYING OR LEAVING.
New Students: We will have teal scarves and ties for you to wear. The rest of the concert attire is provided by you and is black dress pants with a long sleeved (or 3/4 sleeved) black shirt – collared for the guys- and black socks/shoes. Ladies can wear closed or open toed shoes and socks are not required.
All of our other students were issued teal scarves and ties in the fall. If you have misplaced yours, you can get another one for $10.
MERCHANDISE SALE: We are going to have a sale on all our merchandise at this concert, so this will be the perfect time to snag something you’ve had your eye on! We have jackets, fleece, long and short sleeved shirts. We could use several parents to volunteer to help set up the merchandise before the concert and sell about 30 min before and 15-20 min after. Please email [email protected] if you can help us out with this!
