We can’t wait to see new faces and join new voices together in song with CoroRio Oxford, starting Thursday, September 5, 2024.
Rehearsals will be held at Oxford First Presbyterian in the choir room until further notice. Please see the map below, marked with good places to park and the door that you should enter. The courtyard door on Tyler Avenue is a glass door connected to the sanctuary; come into the courtyard and you will see it. We will have blue CoroRio signs to help you and your student find your way!
The Children’s Choir (recommended grades 2nd-7th) will meet from 5:00-6:15.
The Youth Choir (recommended grades 7th-12th) will meet from 6:30-7:45.
7th grade students and their families are encouraged to come to either the Children’s or the Youth choir rehearsal (or both!) to test the waters and see where they best fit. Depending on the student’s current musical experience, either choir would be appropriate for adolescent singers! All parents are welcome to stay and observe rehearsals, but that is not required. It is the policy of the MidSouth Music Institute that all staff members undergo yearly background checks.
I want to come visit a rehearsal – what should I do next?
Let us know you’re coming by filling out our interest form!
What do I need to bring to rehearsal?
Yourself, a friend, and a water bottle! If you have a favorite pencil, feel free to bring that as well, but we will provide you with a binder of music and any other materials you will need.
How does registration work?
You are more than welcome to come give CoroRio Oxford a try for a few weeks before deciding to register! Registration is through Active Network and closes October 1st. Whether registering for the Children’s or Youth Choir, the same registration link is used. During the online registration, you can choose to pay for the year in total (September through May), pay by semester, or pay in monthly installments.
The tuition and registration fees help to offset venue costs, student materials, and the hiring of highly qualified and engaging teachers. While we know the total cost for the season can be daunting at first glance, the cost per rehearsal averages out to less than $25 per 75 minute rehearsal. We encourage families to let us know if finances are an obstacle to participation by emailing our Executive Director, Amy Touchstone, at [email protected]
Amy will also be available at the first two rehearsals (Sept. 5 and 12) to assist in the registration process and can answer any questions that you have in person at that time.
