Airport Instructions:
1) Meet at the airport 2 hours prior to your departure time. BRING photo ID or birth certificate and $3 PER BAG that you want to check when we arrive at hotel. Students should wear their Carnegie tshirts. Each traveler is permitted 1 suitcase, 1 carry-on bag (see airline guidelines for size limits), and 1 personal item. See airline guidelines for restricted items (liquids, electronics, etc.)
2) People flying Southwest should check-in with Mr. Beech and Mr. Wadkins upon arrival to pay $3 baggage storage. People flying American should check-in with Mrs. Rushton to pay baggage storage and pick-up their $50 baggage allowance. (These chaperones will be waiting near the ticket counters for each airline.)
3)After checking in with chaperones, proceed to ticket counter with baggage to check and ID to receive boarding passes. (Unfortunately, groups cannot check-in online in advance.) Mrs. Norris and Mrs. Wadkins will be available to help in case of any problems- you should not need a reservation number, e-ticket number, or anything other than name and ID to check in and receive your boarding passes, but we will have the master list on hand to reference as necessary. Just send a text if you don’t see one of us right off and need help!
4) After checking bags and receiving boarding passes, students traveling with parents can go ahead through security- we’ll all meet at the gate to board (see boarding pass for boarding time). Students traveling alone need to wait with Mrs. Wadkins until everyone is ready to proceed through security together. Students will have a brief meeting with their chaperones to go over general travel procedures at this time.
NOTE: Students traveling without a parent need to be with their chaperone (or another official HMS/CoroRio chaperone) at all times throughout the trip. The chaperone assignments can be found listed below.
