CoroRio and the MidSouth Music Institute will be holding a College Scholarship Audition Workshop designed especially for you during the pandemic! The sessions will provide a complete toolkit for a successful college scholarship audition- from choosing a song that will best showcase your voice, to using excellent performance techniques, to creating and submitting a virtual audition if that is required for your chosen school. The registration fee is only $10 for both sessions. The workshop will be recorded and can be sent upon request if you are unable to attend live.
On Monday, October 26th, we will focus on the specific requirements and guidelines for various colleges as well as a step by step guide on how to create and submit a virtual audition. Each participating college director will have 5-10 minutes to share information about their program and audition process with you followed by Dr. Jabarie Glass's presentation on creating a virtual audition video. Questions will be taken at the conclusion of the session.
On Thursday, October 29th, we will focus on selecting audition repertoire that will showcase your voice, how to practice/prepare your selected song, and review performance techniques for an impressive audition. Local university voice teachers, Jamie Dahman and Mary Wilson, will work with selected singers in a masterclass setting to give specific feedback on various aspects of a demo audition. This will allow you to have firsthand experience in what an audition looks like and what colleges are looking for.
