Hello from CoroRio! It hasn’t been long since our most recent newsletter, but we do have a few updates to share with you and reminders for the rest of the season! Thank you for your participation on the Band app in the t-shirt color poll – shirts are being ordered and will be here after spring break!
You may have noticed our recent changes on the Band calendar and social media regarding DeSoto’s Got Talent! We have transitioned to a one show format and need your help to get the word out – this is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year, and we would love to have as many students participate as we can!
This year, we are encouraging our CoroRio students to participate by lowering the registration cost to $15 – general public registration ($25) is still welcome and highly encouraged! Applications are now due Friday, March 14th (Friday of Spring Break) and the performance will take place Monday, March 24th at Grace Bible Church in Olive Branch. Reminder that we will NOT have rehearsal on Tuesday, March 11th in observance of spring break. Then, once we return from Spring Break, we will meet on Monday, March 17th instead of Tuesday, March 18th as staff will be in attendance at the National ACDA conference in Dallas for the rest of the week.
Kind reminder to please fill out the absence request form prior to rehearsal so that staff can be in the know prior to rehearsal – and a quick Band message or text message to your child’s conductor is helpful for planning as well. With the two Monday rehearsals coming up in March and April, we know that there may be some students who will either be late or absent – we understand that absences are sometimes unavoidable, but our goal always is to have open communication with students and conductors as we prepare for successful rehearsals and performances. The form is pinned to the top of the Band app for easy access.
Camp CoroRio registration is now open! In addition to the early bird registration deal ($100 instead of the regular $125!!) we are running a few incentives this week. Deposits are just $50 – register with a deposit today and your camper will get $10 to use in the Camp store (filled with snacks, drinks, and merch), register with a deposit on Wednesday and your camper will get a free Rio shirt of their choice, and register any time between now and Friday with a deposit and your camper will be entered into a drawing to have the rest of their camp fee waived!
